"Hidden" Nature on the Jamaicaway

Saturday, May 22, 2022
8-10am EST

It's officially spring and signs of natural life that had lain dormant all winter are re-emerging! On this walk co-sponsored by Outdoor Afro and the Brookline Bird Club, we’ll explore both the flora and fauna of the Arnold Arboretum.

Walk leader Kaitlin Smith from Outdoor Afro will draw from her background as a public humanist and naturalist to story the grounds we traverse by sharing about some of the ecological, culinary, medicinal, and folkloric dimensions of the plants we meet along the way.

Walk leaders Bob Mayer and Kathy Dia from the Brookline Bird Club will share their knowledge of the birds that we encounter. May brings a rainbow of beautiful birds to Massachusetts so we will enjoy their beauty and learn a bit about their behavior and language. Loaner binoculars will be available.
